Westcountry Blacksmith Lupine is a dwarf herbaceous perennial that forms a mound of palmate foliage.  Tightly packed spires rise above the foliage sporting large bicolor violet blue and white sweet-pea like flowers that bloom from late spring through summer.  Flowers best in full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soils.  Resistant to drought and frost.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Powdery mildew and rot can cause considerable damage if left unchecked.  Dense crowns may rot in poorly drained soils.  Watch for aphids, mealy bugs, slugs, and beetles.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Wildlife Garden, Foundational Plantings, and Containers.
