Barren Strawberry is a creeping native evergreen perennial that forms a mat of strawberry-like foliage that turns bronze in winter.  Its small yellow flowers bloom in late spring.  Best bloom with afternoon shade in the South and moist well-drained acidic soils.  

Syn. with Waldsteinia fragarioides.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:   Low maintenance.  Poorly drained soils can be fatal.  Plant may struggle in hot and humid climates south of zone 7.  No serious pests or diseases.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Naturalized Areas, and Containers.
