Pilioseum Hens and Chicks is a mat-forming evergreen succulent that grows in semi-loose rosettes. Its grey-green round pointed foliage has a faint metalic glimmer and flushes with burgundy red as the weather cools. The mother rosset(hen) spreads out with horizontal stems to seed offsets (chicks). Infrequently in summer a short stalk rises from the hen sporting clusters of pink flowers. The hen dies after flowering, giving space for the chicks to grow. Best color with full sun and dry to medium well-drained soils. Drought and heat tolerant once established.
